June 2018 Pets of the Month!

Canyon City Animal Hospital

Meet Paco! Paco is a 10 week old Chihuahua puppy who recently found his forever home. He had only been with them a few days when his dad noticed he was lethargic and not eating. After an exam by Dr. Lambert, we ran a Parvovirus test and it came back positive. Parvovirus is a highly contagious viral disease affecting the intestinal tract with symptoms that include vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy and dehydration.  The best treatment plan was to hospitalize him for supportive care by administering antibiotics and I.V. Fluid therapy to keep him hydrated. After a week in the hospital he is starting to feel like himself again!

Hunters Canyon Animal Hospital

Almost two years ago we had the honor of meeting Gracie and becoming her primary Veterinarian. When you see Gracie you will notice her stunning green eyes! Gracie recently came to see us because she was scratching at her eye as if it was bothering her. After a thorough eye exam it was noted that she had developed a bad ulcer on her cornea. Corneal ulcers are open sores or scratches on the cornea from some sort of trauma. It was decided that it was best she be referred to an Ophthalmologist for further care to ensure no damage be done to her eye. After getting the appropriate medications her eye has healed and she is back modeling her beautiful green eyes!
