October Pets of the Month!

Canyon City Animal Hospital

Meet Cooper! Cooper is a handsome 10-year-old Cocker Spaniel who has been coming to see us since he was four years old. He had been having issues with his eye for some time and was diagnosed with Glaucoma in his left eye. Glaucoma is a condition in which pressure is placed on the eye, causing inadequate fluid drainage in the eye. This is a common development for dogs as they age, especially in Cocker Spaniels. Unfortunately, for Cooper this was a chronic issue, despite applying different types of eye medications, the disease progressed. He was unable to see and his eye was becoming more bothersome. After much discussion, the decision was made to perform an Eye Enucleation; removal of the eye. The procedure was successful and Cooper made a full recovery! He is now back to himself and enjoying playtime again with his brothers!

Joey Four Paws is a six year old Great Dane that came to our clinic recently to see Dr. Hossalla for a dental cleaning as well as a mass removal from his lower jaw. His biopsy results came back as a Malignant Melanoma. As a result, he is currently seeing an oncologist in San Antonio for ongoing treatment and therapy. It has been a lengthy recovery. However, Joey isn’t letting that stop him from enjoying his long walks and pizza!
